A Yorkshire Water project in Ben Rhydding to reduce the number of discharges into the river Wharfe from a storm overflow has completed, helping to improve the quality of the watercourse.
The Greater Cambridge Chalk Stream Project, funded by Cambridge City Council, Cambridge Water (part of South Staffordshire Plc), Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), Anglian Water and the Hobson Conduit Trust, marks a major milestone in the protection and restoration of some of the UK’s most fragile and rare ecosystems.
Northumbrian Water has invested £3 million in refurbishing four clarifiers – which remove sediment and other impurities from the raw water at the start of the treatment process – at its Warkworth Water Treatment Works (WTW) in Northumberland.
