The Environment Agency has issued a further six drought permits to Yorkshire Water to allow the company to conserve more water in reservoirs to secure public drinking water supplies, in addition to 37 permits which are already in place.
Southern Water has completed two wastewater treatment upgrades in West Sussex and Surrey with a total value of £7.5 million.
CK Infrastructure, the owner of Northumbrian Water, has re-entered the bidding process for Thames Water and approached the water sector regulator Ofwat to say it is ready to submit its own rescue package, according to a report in The Sunday Times at the weekend.
Anglian Water has teamed up with The Big Table Group (which operates several major restaurant chains, including Bella Italia), GreaseTech Drainage Solutions and ECAS (Environmental Compliance and Services) to protect the East of England’s sewers from blockages – which can be caused by fats, oils, greases and other unflushables, including starch.
Yorkshire Water is set to begin a £1.5 million project to replace approximately 1.3km of water mains in Stourton on 20 October, to improve the resilience and reliability of the area’s network.
