The Climate Change Committee (CCC) today presents the first ever detailed route map for a fully decarbonised nation with the publication of the Sixth Carbon Budget (2033-2037) for the UK.
Over 300 companies including Anglian Water (the only UK water company to make the A list), AstraZeneca, Danone, Firmenich, HP Inc, KAO Corporation, Klabin S/A, Mars, Symrise AG and Mitsubishi Electric have today been named on this year’s A List by environmental non-profit CDP. This is a major increase on last year, despite the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19.
The National Audit Office is warning that achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions in the UK is a colossal challenge and government will need to spearhead a concerted national effort if it is to reach its goal by 2050.
The UK government has today announced an new ambitious target to reduce the UK’s emissions by at least 68% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
To mark the countdown to the UN COP26 climate change conference taking place in Glasgow next November, Anglian Water, Essex & Suffolk Water and Yorkshire Water will be joining forces to embark on a year of collaboration ahead of the event.
