Extreme Weather
A new report has found 9 million UK homes are at risk of flooding, of which 1.3 million at risk from groundwater, according to pioneering new analysis.
This week Environment Agency teams in East Anglia and Lincolnshire have been reflecting on the 10th anniversary of the 2013 floods. On December 5, 2013 a large storm coupled with high tides generated a coastal surge along the whole of the east coast of England. In some areas the tides were higher than those in the devastating floods of 1953.
VolkerStevin’s Low Crosby Flood Risk Management Scheme which used an entirely nature-based solution has won the 2023 national Constructing Excellence sustainability award.
The Environment Agency is hosting a public drop-in event today for the Keighley and Stockbridge Flood Alleviation Scheme which aims to reduce flooding from the River Worth, the River Aire and surface water flooding.
The Environment Agency (EA) is warning people to prepare for increased weather extremes and to make sure they know their flood risk.
