Regulation and Legislation
Ofwat has published new guidance setting out its expectation for water companies in England and Wales to deliver all projects worth £200 million-plus via Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) in their business plans for the 2024 Price Review.
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has launched a 12-week consultation on proposals for new water efficiency labelling to protect water supplies and cut energy bills.
Following on from its conclusions on developer charges and incentives in October 2021, Ofwat has now published a review of the environmental incentives water companies offer to developers to support more water efficient new homes.
Influential campaigning organisation Waterwise is warning that Ofwat’s draft methodology for the upcoming 2024 Price Review is lacking in many areas – and says that the water sector regulator “should not be marking its own homework on the impact of its price reviews”
The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee will continue its inquiry on the work of Ofwat today by taking evidence from former Ofwat chair, Jonson Cox.
