Regulation and Legislation
The situation at Thames Water will be examined by the Environment Food and Rural Affairs Committee this morning at 9.15am when it questions the responsible government minister and the Chief Executives from the company and water sector regulator Ofwat.
MOSL, the market operator for the non-household water retail market in England, has published its 2022/23 Annual Market Performance Report (AMPR) which provides an overview of trading parties’ performance and assurance over the past 12 months.
Thames Water’s interim co-CEO, Cathryn Ross has said the water company is “deeply sorry for the entirely unacceptable pollution incident into the Gatwick Stream and River Mole six years ago” which saw Thames yesterday fined £3,334,000 at Lewes Crown Court.
Ofwat has set out additional guidance for water companies on its expectations for how they should propose price control deliverables at the upcoming 2024 price review for the 2025-30 investment period.
Most customers in England and Wales are unaware they could be entitled to a payment if their water company fails to meet certain service standards, according to new research conducted by the Consumer Council for Water (CCW).
