Affinity Water has started the procurement process for its £900 million AMP8/9 capital works programme – the company is planning a market engagement event later this month ahead of going out to tender with a formal contract notice in November.

The utility is looking to put a supply chain in place to deliver its AMP8 and 9 capital works with an estimated total value of £450,000,000 for AMP8 and AMP9 respectively. The agreements will run alongside the other existing agreements that will be used to deliver the AMP8 and 9 programmes - examples include the Smart Metering Programme.

The water company said it welcomes interest and feedback from all sections of the market, including from suppliers that do not traditionally operate in the water industry.

The contract will be tendered in two separate Lots.

Services to be provided under Lot 1 Infra (BGA) capital works will include:

  • Distribution mains renewals
  • Trunk main renewals
  • Network reinforcements
  • Under pressure connections/line stops
  • Water mains commissioning
  • Street works
  • Developer services activities - including new connections and water mains diversions
  • Network modelling and network data management
  • Network calming
  • MEICA for distribution assets
  • Retrofitting of advanced pressure management solutions.

 

Services covered by Lot 2 Non-infra (AGA) capital works include activities such as:

  • Design, build and commissioning of water treatment processes - including civils, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) and process design.
  • Design, build and commissioning of booster pumping stations, design, build and commissioning of service reservoirs - including of similar structures such as clean water tanks.
  • Integration of assets - including automation/control of the strategic network.

 

Affinity is planning to hold a preliminary market consultation event on 17th October - attendance is subject to availability and is restricted to 2 attendees per organisation.
