Cumbria County Council has gone out to tender with a contract for routine gas, leachate, surface water and groundwater monitoring and routine maintenance of a network of closed landfill sites across Cumbria.

The Council is responsible for ensuring they are managed and maintained in accordance with legislation - 26 of those landfills are classified as non-permitted with the remaining 8 classified as permitted landfills spread across the county.

Initial contract term is for two years with up to two further years of extension option.
