The Highland Council has gone out to tender with a marine construction works contract for the Uig Harbour redevelopment on the Isle of Skye worth an estimated £36 million.

Subject to funding availability, the proposed infrastructure improvement works at Uig Harbour will include a range of construction activities, including:

  • widening of existing berthing structure
  • relocation of existing waiting shelter
  • widening of existing approachway
  • new fendering to existing berthing structure and widened approachway
  • replacement of existing linkspan
  • dredging of seabed
  • reinstatement of boat steps
  • concrete repairs to existing pier head and approachway structure
  • upgraded electrical, street lighting and water services
  • extended marshalling area with reclamation from the sea with imported rock fill, rock armour, paving, lighting, drainage, road markings and other ancillary works
