Severn Trent Water has gone out to tender with two separate AMP7 contracts for a woodland management project and biodiversity grassland wildflower creation with a combined value of £3.2 million.
The water company has established a requirement for woodland management at specific sites and is tendering a contract worth £1.6 million – the utility said that as well as reputational benefit, the work could ultimately result in a substantial annual ODI reward.
Severn Trent is also separately tendering an AMP7 contract for biodiversity grassland wildflower creation –also worth £1.6 million.
The utility has established a requirement for wildflower meadow creation and management of existing priority grassland through bio-cuts at specified sites has been established.
In addition to reputational benefit, the work will provide potential cost saving through reduced mowing, and result in an annual ODI reward.
Commenting on both contracts, Severn Trent said:
“We want to establish ourselves as environmental leaders, and to do this we must lead by example by making sure our own land is managed responsibly.”
Time limit for receipt of expressions of interest for both contracts, which will run for four years, is 17th May 2021.
