Severn Trent Water has launched a preliminary market engagement exercise ahead of an upcoming combined tender for Meter Operator (MOP) and DA/DC services of behalf of itself, sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig and Severn Trent Green Power.
The companies require a single supplier to provide the DA/DC services for all of their estate.
The contract will be tendered in two Lots as follows:
Meter Operator (MOP)
Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electricity meters and communication (comms) links. MOP refers to the company responsible for installing, maintaining, and managing electricity meters, particularly for businesses with half-hourly (HH) meters.
Data Collector/Data Aggregator (DC/DA) services
The Data Collector (DC) is an organisation that is accredited by OFGEM to collect half-hourly metering system data and Smart meter data.
The Data Aggregator (DA) is an organisation that is accredited by OFGEM to aggregate and validate the metering data that has been collected. The data then is provided to suppliers for billing and settlement purposes.
The companies require a single supplier to provide the Data Collector/Data Aggregator (DC/DA) services for all of their estate.

The deadline to respond to the optional pre-market engagement is 14 July 2025 - the pre market engagement does not form part of the formal procurement process.Severn Trent expects to publish a formal tender notice on 28 July.
