The water company has launched the Early Market Engagement (EME) with the issue of a Periodic Indicative Notice for Environmental Pollution Incident Response and Remediation in the Southern Water region.

Southern Water needs swift attendance at sewage, oil or chemical pollution, and clean water incidents anywhere in its region - including domestic premises, commercial/industrial sites, agricultural land, inland waterways, lakes and reservoirs.

The service provider(s) will be tasked with promptly assessing the impact of incidents and providing recommendations for immediate remedial actions. The provider will also be expected to make recommendations aimed at preventing the recurrence of incidents.

Southern Water are currently considering a Framework model with the following two Lots:

Lot 1: Provision of appropriately qualified environmental water quality technicians, technical and engineering personnel to attend and assess and advise on appropriate mitigation and remediation.

Lot 2: Remediation, preventative and environmental protection works.

Initial contract term is 4 years, with 4 further annual potential extension options.

The water company expects to go out to tender for the contract in late July.
