Southern Water has gone out to tender with an AMP8 contract for Slow the Flow Interventions with an estimated value of £50 million.

Scope of the contract covers the supply and installation of Slow the Flow interventions, including water butts, sustainable drainage planters and smart water butts at household and non-household properties. It also includes customer engagement and sign up.
The contract is being tendered in the following Lots:
- Lot 1a - manufacture and /or supply of water butts for household and non-household locations in 5 sizes – Kent and East Sussex (one area)
- Lot 1b - manufacture and /or supply of water butts for household and non-household locations in 5 sizes – West Sussex, Hampshire, and Isle of Wight (one area)
- Lot 1c - manufacture and /or supply of sustainable drainage planters for non-household locations in 3 sizes – Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Isle of Wight (one area)
- Lot 2 - manufacture and /or supply and installation of smart water butt mechanism – Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Isle of Wight
- Lot 3a - customer engagement and installation - East Primary Provider (Kent and East Sussex) offering back up for the West
- Lot 3b - customer engagement and installation - West Primary Provider (Hampshire, West Sussex) offering back up for the East and Isle of Wight
- Lot 3c - customer engagement and installation - West Primary Provider (Isle of Wight) offering back up for the West
The water company is looking to put a framework agreement with several suppliers in place. Initial contract term is three years, with further extension options of up to a further five years.
