The filter media is part of the percolating filter systems- the contract will cover complete refurbishment of the filter and top-ups of the filter media at the water company's sewage treatment works.

Media used is either air-cooled blast furnace slag or plastic media, depending on the sites' consent levels.

Refurbishment activities include work with the filter arms, the existing filter media, washing and grading existing material and ventilation pipework.

The contract was tendered in 2 separate Lots - initial contract term is 3 years with extension options for up to 5 further years in total.

Thames Water was looking to award contracts to 2 or 3 suppliers for work on a mini competition basis.

Brentford-based firm Day Group Ltd has been awarded a contract for Lots 1 and 2 under the framework.
