United Utilities has gone out to tender with an AMP8 contract for the supply of geospatial and topographical surveys with a total estimated value of £9.24 million (inc VAT).

The main types of geospatial survey that the water company requires are:

  • Aerial light detection and ranging (LiDAR) & photogrammetric surveys
  • Bathymetric /hydrographic surveys
  • Catchment ground modelling
  • Deformation monitoring surveys
  • Mapping underground features
  • Measured building surveys
  • Mobile LiDAR surveys
  • Pipeline route surveys
  • Point Cloud processing and modelling
  • River cross section surveys
  • Topographical surveys
  • Terrestrial Laser Scanning
  • Underground utility surveys, including ground penetrating radar (GPR)
  • Unmanned aircraft system (UAS) surveys inspection & mapping (drones)
  • 3D model production

General categories covered by topographical surveys include:

  • Permanent buildings, porches and canopies
  • Temporary/mobile buildings
  • Boundary features: walls, fences, hedges
  • Roads, tracks, footways, paths
  • Street furniture
  • Utilities plant and service covers where visible
  • Overhead utility cables
  • Drainage
  • Changes of surface
  • Vegetation, individual trees/wooded areas/limits of vegetation
  • Pitches/recreation
  • Private gardens or grounds (off-Site areas)
  • Water features including water and bed levels
  • Earthworks, top and bottom of slopes
  • Quarries and rock faces
  • Process structures
  • Infrastructure plant and fixed machinery Geotechnical, boreholes, piezometers and trial pits
  • Railway features (with arranged access)
  • Ground levels
  • Environmental, Invasive vegetation, areas of pollution / contamination

 

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 3 November 2025 to 2 November 2028 with a further potential extension option up to 2 November 2030 and an estimated award decision date of 28 October 2025.

The total value of £9.24 million (inc VAT)  includes the estimated value of 2 optional 1 year extensions.

United Utilities is looking to appoint up to 8 suppliers to the framework agreement

Deadline for enquiries about the tender is 2.00pm on 11 August 2025 and tender submission deadline is two hours later at 4:00pm on 11 August 2025.
