The contract, which was tendered in two Lots, covers the provision of meter reading software, meter data collection system and meter reader devices. Scope of the contract includes:

  • Mobile device software to capture meter readings and associated supporting information for all meter types within the DCC estate.
  • A meter data collection system for the central storage and management of meter data to integrate with the DCC's core billing system.
  • Ruggedised handheld mobile devices for use by meter readers.

Welsh Water has 800,000 meters in its asset base, of which 3,500 are ‘drive by’ meters.

The initial contract term is 3 years with three further annual extension options.

Co. Tipperary-based firm TEMETRA Ltd in Ireland has been awarded the contract, one of two companies in the bidding for the work.
