The Government has repeated its view that water bills must remain affordable, and customers cannot be expected to pay the price for years of underperformance in the past.
Ofwat has today announced its proposed decision which finds Thames Water to be in breach of its obligations under Licence Condition P30 – the regulator has proposed an £18.2 million penalty after finding the water company broke dividend payment rules.
Average water bills are set to rise 36% - water sector regulator Ofwat has this morning announced that it has approved a £104 billion investment programme by the water companies.
The House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee is today launching a new inquiry, Reforming the Water Sector, to scrutinise the breadth of issues confronting the water sector.
Water customers around the country will benefit from significantly higher payments to compensate them for water company service failures, the Government has confirmed today, saying that water companies are “to be forced to double compensation for failures.”
