Millions across the country are being urged to get flood ready – such as by signing up for flood warnings or preparing a flood plan – by the Environment Agency to mark the start of Flood Action Week 2025.
The Environment Agency has completed the £10 million Beales Corner Flood Risk Management Scheme in Bewdley, Worcestershire, delivering a major upgrade to the town’s flood defences that will benefit 50 properties and maintain access to businesses for decades to come.
The Environment Agency and a wide range of partners have complet
ed the Outstrays Managed Realignment Scheme, creating 250ha of intertidal habitat by embankment realignment at a total cost of £56.3 million.
The Environment Agency is getting ready to start work this week on £1 million worth of coastal flood defence work at Pevensey Bay - residents and visitors to Pevensey Bay will witness a spectacular sight during September as the Sospan Dau dredging vessel returns to spray shingle onto the shoreline.
Work on the Littleborough Flood Risk Management Scheme continues to progress in 2025, with construction activity under way across key sites. The scheme is designed to reduce flood risk to homes, businesses, and community facilities that have been previously affected by severe flooding.
