A major milestone has been reached in the construction of the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier with the arrival of a jack up barge from Liverpool.
A new report commissioned by RSA Insurance, an Intact company, and The Wildlife Trusts shows that every £1 invested in natural flood management (NFM) is expected to deliver £10 of benefits over 30 years.
Work is underway to bolster natural flood defences along the west coast of Norfolk as part of their yearly renewal. An expected 14,000 tonnes of sand and shingle will be moved to protect 800 homes and 4,000 caravans.
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has published the terms of reference for the new independent review of property flood resilience (PFR) it commissioned on 8th January 2025.
The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee will hold an evidence session on 12th February next week to explore whether the Government’s £2.65 billion investment in flood defences is being prioritised to the right projects.
